Orlo Shroyer has spent 43 years in public education service in Missouri including 31 years as a classroom teacher and school administrator. He served as Assistant Commissioner of Instruction for the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for six years and then served as Deputy Commissioner of DESE for four more years. Upon retirement from the state department, Orlo served for five years as Vice Present for Development for Newton Learning.
Shroyer received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from Northwest Missouri State University and his Doctorate in Education from the University of Missouri – Columbia. He is married to Karen Shroyer, who taught first grade for 19 years, and has a son.
